Vietnamese Coffee

Everyone knows that Chris Chacko of Sparrow Coffee roasts the best coffee in Chicago.

Heck..he probably roasts some of the best coffee I have ever had the pleasure of enjoying, the guy knows his stuff.  But I have to introduce you to something a little different.  Our family has a Roastery in Biên Hòa where they have been roasting 100% Arabica single origin coffee beans for 32 years and let me tell you...it's good.  Even the smell of this rich cup of dark roast is enough to hook and sink you.  We are shipping the goods in to Chicago, so don't worry, you can have a taste!

Vietnamese Coffee

The country was ruled and ultimately influenced by the French and it's so interesting to see how some of the traditions from each culture molded into one in some areas.  It actually makes me think again about the definition or meaning of what authenticity is because really, everything is built upon.  Nothing is EXACTLY original or authentic but rather ideas, traditions, and culture that is ever-growing and transitioning into the new 'authentic'.  Take for instance the coffee / cafe scene found at any given corner in Hanoi, Vietnam. You can grab a seat, sip coffee and specialty drinks, smoke ciggs and people watch for hours.  Some cà phê's (cafe's) serve street food and bia hoi (beer) too.

FYI : Vietnamese coffee is grown in basaltic (ancient volcanic) soil in one of the world's most optimal wet-season , dry-season climates. Vietnam is the second-largest producer of coffee in the world, next to Brazil.
