Chef Thai's Sister Launches 'Bún Bò Huế' for Brunch!

Bún Bò Huế Lands on the Menu!

Bún Bò Huế, a central Vietnamese beef noodle soup popular for its balance of spicy, sour, and salty amidst the predominant lemongrass fragrance and flavor. And Chef Thai Dang's sister makes a KILLER version!

After a successful Phở Bò launch where Chef Dang's mother helmed the kitchen to serve the very first bowl of Phở Bò, big sister Chi Thu will take the reigns and serve her umami-laden version with house-made ớt satế. Her Ớt Satế is superior to all – often imitated, but never duplicated. Rarely made from scratch these days, this lemongrass-based chili saucewill be served as is common: with shaved banana blossoms, Vietnamese herbs, and lime.

Chef Dang, Danielle and Chi Thu look forward to introducing Chicago to a proper bowl of Bún Bò Huế on October 13 and 14 (10 a.m. – 3 p.m.). Following this feature debut, Bún Bò Huế stays on to become a staple of the brunch menu alongside Phở Mẹ Tôi.

In the spirit of family and giving back, $1 from each order of Bún Bò Huế, Phở Bò, and Cánh Gà Chiên (Vietnamese-style fried wings) made during launch weekend will be donated to 'Connecting4Communities'. These funds will be allocated to help launch a project to repair the four viaducts that connect Pilsen and University Village.  Once completed, the new infrastructure will provide a safe, clean, and beautiful passageway between the two communities for local residents and visitors. The Auxiliary Board’s annual fundraising event, BLU, is your chance to support this vision as well as our work celebrating beauty worth saving. BLU: Behold the Beauty will celebrate the diversity of beauty worth saving found in Shedd’s new special exhibit, Underwater Beauty. Come explore the shimmer, color, pattern and rhythm of the exquisite aquatic wildlife that call our oceans, lakes and rivers home.

CS Magazine: Savor at Sunset

HaiSous will be participating in this summer's CS Magazine's Savor at Sunset. We hope to see you there!

Savor At Sunset is a debut event from Modern Luxury Chicago that will align with the highly anticipated CS July/August Restaurant Issue. The event will incorporate all things Chicago--food, fancy cocktails and summer fun! The event will be honoring the city’s most distinguished chefs and restaurateurs that continue to shape and evolve Chicago’s culinary scene. Guests will arrive to the lakefront venue complete with picnic tables that will offer an experience of a lifetime – delightful wine and cocktails complemented with delicious food exquisitely prepared by local chefs, lively entertainment from local bands and DJs, and activations that will surely charm and thrill all who attend. Chef Thai, "If I am going to make Phở, it is going to be done the right way.  And it wouldn't be right to serve the first bowl of Phở without my mother.  My childhood is filled with the taste memories of her flavors she would share with our family every Saturday and Sunday.  I remember beef Phở served with a side of oxtail, tendon, pickled onions, and Vietnamese herbs.  I promised her that our first pot of Phở would be hers.  Made and served by her.  Brunch is about flavors from home and how I grew up eating."

Green City Market BBQ

One of the best summer events in Chicago, this grand picnic is held every July in picturesque Lincoln Park, with the fabulous Chicago skyline as a backdrop. This beautiful venue is ideal to showcase some of Chicago's finest chefs, the who's who of Chicago's culinary scene. All dishes served at the BBQ feature items offered from the bounty of the market with nearly 100 chefs/restaurants creating culinary magic.
